SINTHOTS is a trade union association that represents a non-profit workers' institution covering workers in the Hotel, Tourism, and Related sectors, for the defence of their rights and interests, endowed with legal personality, administrative and financial autonomy, and its own assets.
The vision of SINTIHOTS is a sector with greater protection for workers, a favourable work environment and conditions, and dignified wages.
Formation of the first union organisation in the hospitality sector in Mozambique, formalised after international recognition at the Gastronomy Fair in Southern Rhodesia, where the professionals were ranked 1st place.
The Table Workers Association transforms into the Madodas Commission, a new representative structure for workers in the sector between 1974 and 1977.
Following the creation of the Production Councils in 1976, the Madodas Commission is integrated into Branch 18, marking the beginning of formal representation within the new socialist labour management structure.
With the reorganisation of activity branches in the 1980s, the sector moves to Branch 7, paving the way for the foundation of a specific union for hospitality and tourism.
On 6 December 1986, SINTIHOTS, the National Union of Hotel, Tourism and Similar Industry Workers, is born, consolidating decades of union organisation and struggle based on the principles of democratic trade unionism.
